Hey Reader,
Sometimes when I’m too busy (read: lazy) to go to the grocery store, I end up playing my own version of Chopped in the kitchen. You know how it goes - Ted Allen’s voice in my head, a fridge with random leftovers, and the challenge: what can I make with frozen shredded chicken, a can of green beans, and some about-to-exp heavy cream? You must use all the ingredients.
And somehow, it works. I get scrappy, I get resourceful, and dinner comes together — with a little help from Pinterest, ChatGPT, and the kitchen witches I pray to when shit gets questionable.
But that’s just one version of resourcefulness. Sometimes being scrappy looks like repurposing the random notebook at the bottom of your drawer into a journal, instead of waiting until you buy the “perfect” one. Or noticing the pile of art supplies your kids left on the table and making something fun for yourself. Or using the 15 minutes between meetings to doodle nonsense, meditate, or text a friend, instead of saying you don’t have time for yourself. It’s less about what you don’t have, and more about squeezing the juice out of what’s already sitting in front of you.
Weekly Tarot Card.
The Magician is the first stop on the Fool’s journey. Here's how I picture that interaction going:
The Fool stumbles in, backpack half-zipped, snacks falling out, and says, “I’m not ready yet.”
The Magician smirks, gestures to the table full of tools, and replies, “Buddy, you’ve been carrying half this shit the whole time. Just use it already. And zip up your bag — you’re losing trail mix.”
That’s the essence of The Magician: recognizing that you don’t need more to start. You already have the resources, the skills, and the scrappy creativity to pull something together. The only thing missing? The willingness to trust yourself enough to begin.
A Powerful Question.
Where in my life do I already have what I need — I just need to use it?
See ya next time.
Keep proving resourceful beats ready every time.
