Hey Reader,
As you might remember, I set out to build my son’s Mandalorian Halloween costume from scratch — EVA foam, glue, spray paint, thrifted clothes and belts, and a whole lot of “well, let’s hope this works.” Did I have experience making cosplay armor? Nope. Did I have a YouTube degree and blind optimism? Absolutely.
When I started, I had zero clue what I was doing. Blissfully ignorant, totally unprepared, and wildly optimistic. But here’s the thing: as I cut, glued, cursed, and re-did pieces that looked like hot garbage the first time, something shifted. Each attempt looked a little better than the last. I learned what worked, what didn’t, and how to keep moving forward instead of giving up. And by the end? My kid had a super fucking cool costume that we built together.
That’s the beauty of starting a journey without all the answers: you learn by doing. Trial. Error. Glue burns. Wins. And that’s exactly what the first card of the Major Arcana is all about. Ready for something new?
Over the next 22 weeks, we’re going to walk this Fool's journey together. Each week, I’ll pull the next card in the Major Arcana and break it down — the symbolism, the meaning, and how it shows up in your own life (and how you can use it!). Think of it as Tarot 101 with a splash of “get your shit together.”
Write to me with your thoughts on our journey, I LOVE getting emails from you beautiful humans.
Weekly Tarot Card.
The Fool is card zero — the beginning of everything. It’s about stepping forward without a map, with curiosity instead of certainty. He’s got a bag slung over his shoulder, a dog at his side, and his eyes fixed on the horizon, not the cliff under his feet.
It’s the reminder that beginnings are messy. They’re uncertain. And they’re also filled with possibility. The Fool doesn’t wait until he has it all figured out — he trusts that each step will teach him what he needs to know.
This card isn’t about being reckless. It’s about courage. It’s the nudge that says: leap anyway. You can learn, adjust, and grow as you go.
I'm embodying The Fool by building a Mandalorian costume and trying a new newsletter format, and your "Fool" moment may look different.
Do you want to join a book club, but you're overthinking it ("what if they don't like me, what if I can't keep up, what if...)?
Are you dying to change jobs, but you're afraid of change and the unknown?
Maybe it's something smaller, like trying out a new restaurant to shake things up?
Don't let the unknowns stop you from doing something that could be fucking radical. You never know what'll happen until you just do it.
A Powerful Question.
Where can you insert some energy from The Fool in your life, big or small?
See ya next time.
Here’s to messy first steps and the magic they unlock.
